CBS Television has cancelled Judge Joe Brown after 15 years reportedly due to failed contract negotiations. The show is the second most popular courtroom show after Judge Judy and went into television syndication in 1998.
“Judge Joe Brown will not be returning for another season,” CBS Television released in a statement. “We would like to thank Joe for 15 great years, as well as executive producer John Terenzio and the entire staff for all their hard work and dedication to the show.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Judge Brown was making around $20 million per season, but CBS Television wanted to lower his salary due to a drop in ratings. Apparently, Judge Brown didn’t agree.
“It was time to move out on my own since I had some ideas that I had been having to pull teeth with no novocaine to get adopted,” Brown said in an interview with Broadcasting and Cable.
It is possible that Judge Joe Brown could return to television. Broadcasting and Cable reported that the television judge is currently in talks with other networks.
