During this year’s Comic-Con, The Simpsons’ executive producer Al Jean announced that Bart, Homer, Marge, Lisa and Maggie are going to be joined with the stars of Futurama in an upcoming crossover episode.
Jean revealed to the audience that the episode’s plot will revolve around Futurama’s ill-tempered Bender and the mischievous Bart Simpson.
“Bender has to come back from the future to kill Bart because there’s something that Bart does now that makes the future really, really, really bad,” Jean announced.
The crossover episode is set to be recorded in August and will air on Fox as either The Simpsons’ 25th season finale in May of 2014 or as the show’s 26th season premiere in the fall of 2014.
Not only is Springfield preparing to welcome the cast of Futurama, but the stars of Family Guy are set to make an appearance in a special episode set to air in the fall of 2014 as well.
