It’s official! Disney Channel has ordered Girl Meets World, a spin-off to the popular 90s television show Boy Meets World.
On Monday morning the network announced that production for the show will begin in Los Angeles this summer. Girl Meets World will focus on the life of Riley Matthews (Rowan Blanchard), the daughter of now-grown-up Boy Meets World couple Cory (Ben Savage) and Topanga (Danielle Fishel).
On the show Riley will have to face the fact that her new 7th grade history teacher will be her father Cory Matthews, while her mother Topanga runs an after school hang out spot.
“I am grateful to everyone at Disney Channel for the opportunity to reach my favorite audience, which has always been kids. ‘Girl Meets World’ is a new show for a new generation that will be rooted in the same kind of honest, comedic storytelling about coming of age and the importance of family and friendship that made ‘Boy Meets World’ so popular,” series creator Michael Jacobs said in a statement.
Expect Girl Meets World to premiere on the Disney Channel sometime in 2014!
