After CBS pulled the season 3 finale of Mike and Molly last week, the network has settled on a new airdate. The finale that was set to air on May 20 will now air on Thursday May 30 at 7:30 p.m. CST.
CBS had opted to pull the finale from its original date after a devastating tornado hit Oklahoma City. With the finale of the hit show, which involves Mike and Molly preparing for a tornado heading for Chicago, CBS felt the plot of the finale and the recent tragedy were too similar.
A CBS spokesperson stated, “Due to the tragic events this afternoon in Oklahoma, we are pre-empting tonight’s season finale of ‘Mike & Molly,’ which has a related storyline. A repeat broadcast of ‘Mike & Molly’ will run in the time period. The season finale will be broadcast at an appropriate date.”
Mike and Molly has recently been renewed for a fourth season, but the comedy was not listed on the CBS fall schedule.
