‘Breaking Bad’ Reportedly Offered $75 Million for Three More Episodes

One die hard fan reportedly offered $75 million for three more episodes of Breaking Bad.

That fan happens to be Jeffrey Katzenberg, CEO of DreamWorks Animations, who apparently offered to commission three extra episodes of the AMC hit series.

Over 10.3 million viewers tuned into The Breaking Bad series finale.  According to Variety, Katzenberg proposed the idea to order three more episodes to an audience of TV execs at the Mipcom mart in Canne six weeks ago. His idea was more of a business decision to continue from where the show had ended.

The extra three episodes would total 180 minutes and cost $25 million per episode. “I had this crazy idea. I was nuts for the show. I had no idea where this season was going,” Katzenberg said during the keynote session at Mipcom. Katzenberg said he would want to break up the extra three episodes as six-minute segments over a period of 30 days online and charge viewers at 50-90 cents per episode.

“I said (to them), ‘I’m going to create the greatest pay-per-view television event for scripted programming anybody’s ever done,’ ” Katzenberg explained.

Katzenberg’s $75 million idea was apparently made before he knew where the Breaking Bad storyline was headed.
