Apple Reveals New Augmented Reality Headset For $3499

WWDC 2023 will be known as the event in which Apple debuted a peak at the future of technology. Apple has revealed its new AR headset called Apple Vision Pro.

What Is It?

Apple Vision Pro is Apple’s answer to the Meta Quest, the HTC Vive, PSVR 2, and more. The Vision Pro is Apple’s new augmented reality headset that seeks to seamlessly blend digital content and entertainment with your own personal physical space.

What Does It Do?

In short? Everything that’s already on your iPhone, iPad, Mac, or tv device. The Vision Pro uses state-of-the-art technology to allow users to control content using gestures from their own hands, not through controllers.

Do you want to create your own theater inside your home? The Apple Vision Pro can do that. You can turn your living space into a movie theater using Cinema Entertainment, a new viewing mode for the Vision Pro. Adjust the screen size using a gesture and create an IMAX-level experience in your bedroom. Apple is also creating massive 180-degree, 3D immersive videos with 8K recordings that allow you to insert yourself directly into action.

Apple Vision Pro also contains a multitude of firsts, including VisionOs, Apple’s first spatial operating system. This allows you to control elements, create photogenic spatial experiences, and photo-realistic environment backgrounds all with a twist of your wrist. It also allows you to create a HUD (heads-up display) for your own personal workspace. All of your apps can now be controlled through your eyesight and gestures, from scrolling Safari and viewing spreadsheets, to using your voice to open and answer emails.

What Does It Look Like?

The Apple Vision Pro contains features and designs from previously announced Apple products such as Apple Watch, AirPods Max, MagSafe Charging, and more. It features an aluminum-housed battery, a knitted-woven 3D breathable strap, a magnetically-attached alloy frame, and optical inserts that can be adjusted with your own vision prescription. It also comes with a slim external battery pack that houses a charge for two hours.

How Much Does It Cost?

Apple Vision Pro does not come cheap. The headset will release in early 2024 and will retail for $3499.
