Spurs Big Three Sets NBA Record in Blowout Victory

After over a decade playing together, the San Antonio Spurs’ “Big 3” continues to make history. Wednesday night, Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobli led the Spurs to a 112-77 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder. In doing so they became the most prolific trio in NBA playoff history. In their career together, Duncan, Ginobli, and Parker have now won 111 playoff games, surpassing the previous record of 110 held by Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabaar, and Michael Cooper of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Since coming together in the 2002-03 season, the three have been a member of six Western Conference Finals teams and have made four NBA Finals appearances, winning three titles. Another constant during their amazing run is the presence of Head Coach Gregg Poppovich. Poppovich has led the Spurs for the entirety of the Big 3 era, molding them from rookies into perennial All-Stars.

Off to a 2-0 headstart against Oklahoma City, there is a good chance for the future Hall-of-Famers to add to their laundry list of accomplishments by making the NBA Finals again this year.
