Country singer Randy Travis was arrested early Monday morning on a charge of public intoxication outside Sanger, TX.
Sanger Police Chief Curtis Amyx said an officer approached Travis after he noticed the smell of alcohol. Travis was found parked in front of a church with an open bottle of wine. The country singer was brought to the jail at 1:30 a.m. and was released six hours later, says Denton Country Sheriff spokesman Tom Reedy.
Travis apologized in a statement to The Associated Press “for what resulted following an evening of celebrating the Super Bowl.” The singer says he is “committed to being responsible and accountable.”
Travis lives in the small town of Tioga, TX and begins his upcoming tour on Friday.
