HOUSTON – One of, if not, the most popular of bands beloved by teens, One Direction, has added several shows to its 2013 tour, including a stop in Houston.
One Direction will perform July 21, 2013 at Toyota Center, but ticket sales for the show will begin on May 5, 2012. Texas fans can also look forward to an added concert date on July 22, 2013 in Dallas at American Airlines Center.
The 2013 North American summer tour begins in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. on June 13, 2013 and ends Aug. 8, 2013 in Los Angeles, Calif.
“We are really excited to be adding dates to our 2013 tour of North America. We’d like to thank all our incredible fans who have already bought tickets. We can’t wait until next year to start our World Tour!,” said Zayn Malik from One Direction.
Though the five members auditioned for the U.K. edition of “The X Factor” in 2010, show judge and mentor Simon Cowell encouraged them to form a group and One Direction became a national sensation that place in the top three of the singing competition.
“Up All Night,” the One Direction debut album released in March, has already been certified no less than double platinum in Ireland, U.K., Australia and New Zealand.
The success of the debut “Up All Night” album in the U.S. vaulted it to enter the Billboard 200 chart at number one, an unprecedented feat for any British band in the U.S.
“Up All Night: The Live Tour” DVD will be released May 29.
