Nirvana Is Back, Thanks To New Frontman Paul McCartney

Sir Paul McCartney is reuniting the band Nirvana for a special performance at tonight’s Hurricane Sandy Benefit Concert.

McCartney will be performing in place for the late Kurt Cobain along with Dave Grohl on drums, Krist Novoselic on bass and unofficial fourth member Pat Smear.

It will be the first time in 20 years the surviving members of the band will perform together, but McCartney will not be performing Nirvana’s classics ‘Smells Like Spirit’ or ‘Lithium’.

Instead the founding members have been secretly working on a track with Paul McCartney to perform at the New York charity concert tonight.

‘12.12.12’ will be aired live tonight on HBO with special performances by The Rolling Stones, Bon Jovi, Eric Clapton, Dave Grohl, Billy Joel, Alicia Keys, Chris Martin, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, Roger Waters, Eddie Vedder, Kanye West, and The Who at Madison Square Garden.

The charity concert will benefit the victims of Hurricane Sandy and the Robin Hood Relief Fund. The concert will be available on 34 US networks and television feeds across the globe, including radio and online streaming in South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia.

‘12.12.12’ will be live from Madison Square Garden on December 12, 2012, at 7:30 PM (ET).
