Red Hot Chili Peppers "I'm With You" Album Cover
Ok, we’ve been waiting for a week like this for awhile.
There are some BIG choices for new music this week. Without further introduction, let’s jump right into it!
Red Hot Chili Peppers “I’m With You”
I already started hyping this one last week. Not only is the band releasing the brand new album today, but they are also playing the new tunes LIVE at a concert in Germany. That show is being broadcast to movie theaters worldwide (check your local listings). That is big time.
The Chili Peppers have sold over 60 million albums worldwide. Wow. This is their tenth studio release and is produced by mega giant Rick Rubin.
It’s a good one.
Glen Campbell “Ghost On The Canvas”
This man is a legend. I guess I should also say he is one of my favorite singers of all time. Yes, I said that.
He has a career spanning decades that includes not just music but movies (he was in the original “True Grit” with John Wayne) and television.
Campbell has sold over 45 million records. You know his songs. Think “Wichita Lineman” (which Campbell just revealed as his favorite), “Gentle On My Mind”, “Galveston” and the HUGE “Rhinestone Cowboy”. You know THAT one.
Glen was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s (click here to read that story) and is calling this album his farewell to fans. He is also setting out on a tour to play live one last time.
Campbell’s voice is superb on this release. It’s a strong, powerful album with collaborations that include names like Jakob Dylan (Bob’s son and lead singer of the Wallflowers), Chris Isaak and Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins.

Lil Wayne “The Carter IV”
Long anticipated, this ninth album is getting mixed reviews. Note that this is Weezy’s first collection of tunes since his release from Rikers Island in November.
Rikers is a prison, in case you didn’t know. I mention this because in the past when a rapper put out an album after a jail stint, it was usually met with solid reviews and “punch.”
This is not the case with Wayne. Digital sales are less than expected (the album was released online late Sunday night) and reviews have not been good.
There is one positive item to this story- Wayne did do a great job closing out the MTV VMA’s Sunday. Other than that- not much to say.
