When the Alamo Drafthouse cinema chain says it is strict about their no texting/talking during movies policy, they mean it. No matter who you are.
Pop icon Madonna was at one of their locations for the New York Film Festival premiere of the much anticipated film “12 Years A Slave” when she decided texting on her Blackberry was more important than the film. A fellow audience member asked her to stop. Her reply? Madonna reportedly said, “It’s for business…enslaver.”
As a result, the cinema chain has now banned Madonna from ALL its locations. CEO Tim League tweeted “Until she apologizes to movie fans, Madonna is banned from watching movies @drafthouse.”
League told Entertainment Weekly that he initially meant his tweet as an “offhand joke,” but said that the company intended to stick with the ban on the Material Girl.
