Lorde’s U.S. TV Debut on ‘Late Night,’ New Album ‘Pure Heroine’

New Zealand singer Lorde introduced herself earlier this year with the release of her The Love Club EP. The singer built on the EP’s success last week by unleashing her full-length debut album Pure Heroine.

Following the release of her new album, the 16-year-old took to Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to perform her hit song “Royals,” the lead single off of her recent album Pure Heroine.  “Royals” hit No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart last month, and thanks to Lorde’s unforgettable U.S. television debut on Tuesday (Oct. 1), the track has climbed its way back to the top of the iTunes chart. Watch Lorde make her American television debut with an intense performance of “Royals” on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon below.

The singer has taken over the world’s airwaves with the smash single – which stands against pop culture and its materialistic focus – and has quickly become a household name in music. Speaking of names, here’s a fun fact about the “Royals” singer. The final “e” in Lorde’s name isn’t pronounced! Do we have a musical “God” among us?  Are the singer’s slow, gloomy, synth-drenched songs that amazing? Listen to the new album and share your thoughts.

Lorde’s debut album Pure Heroine hit stores Sept. 27, and features the singer’s breakout single “Royals,” as well as subsequent offerings from the New Zealand native such as “Tennis Court,” “Ribs,” and “White Teeth Teens.”
