The Grammy winning singer/songwriter Lorde has unleashed her first single Monday morning (September 29th) as curator of the final two soundtracks in The Hunger Games franchise.
The singer will be in charge of hand picking each artist that is to be included on the soundtrack, as well as contributing a song for the film herself. “People talk to me and their voices just burn holes,” the 17-year old sings on the haunting track titled “Yellow Flicker Beat,” dedicated to the rebellion leader Katniss Everdeen. “They used to shout my name, now they whisper it.”
Over the weekend, she posted a series of images to her Instagram account teasing the lyrics for the newly released track.
Along with releasing the single, Lorde wrote on her Tumblr thanking her fans as she celebrates the first anniversary of Pure Heroine‘s release, and writing, “It’s my first offering from what I hope will be a soundtrack you love. It’s my attempt at getting inside her head, Katniss’. I hope you like it.”
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 original soundtrack will be released November 18th, in advance of the third installment’s release on November 21st. Check out the single below!
