Lil Wayne Suing Cash Money for $51 Million

Lil Wayne is suing Birdman’s Cash Money Records for $51 million and to be released from his contract with the label.

Dwayne Carter, known as Lil Wayne, filed a 21-page lawsuit against Bryan “Birdman” Williams’ Cash Money Records, because the record label has reportedly refused to pay Lil Wayne tens of millions of dollars for his long-delayed album, Tha Carter V.

In the lawsuit Carter says he was supposed to get an $8 million advance when he began recording his album in December 2013 and another $2 million when he completed the album in 2014. In addition for Carter wanting the record label company to pay him the $10 million owed, he is is seeking $51 million in damages. Carter has asked a judge to declare him the joint copyright holder of everything released on all Young Money Recordings, which includes Drake, Nicki Minaj, Christina Milian and many other artist on Wayne’s record label.

Last month Lil Wayne tweeted his frustration with Cash Money saying:

Cash Money’s CEO Birdman has yet tocomment about the lawsuit Lil Wayne has filed against him.
