It was only last November when Lady Gaga released her highly-anticipated ARTPOP album, but the pop star is already looking to release a sequel. The “Applause” singer has revealed that she could be releasing a full-length follow-up to the successful ARTPOP album very soon.
“I wrote a lot of songs when I was creating ‘ARTPOP,’” said Gaga, while guest-hosting American Top 40 for Ryan Seacrest this weekend (via NME) . “When I was done working on them I had a very specific idea of the concept for the first release of ‘ARTPOP’. There’s a strong possibility I will release another volume of ‘ARTPOP’ and I’m really hoping that it’s soon.”
The news of a second ARTPOP comes with little surprise. Gaga hinted at the possibility of there being a sequel back in 2012, before ARTPOP was even released. She mentioned plans to put out a “commercial” volume of the record first, before releasing a more “experimental” sequel. With Gaga revisiting the idea, it’s safe to assume that plans for a volume two of ARTPOP are definite and that it’s only a matter of time until the project arrives.
The current single from the first volume of ARTPOP, “G.U.Y.,” debuted at No. 76 on the Hot 100 chart last week. To date, ARTPOP has sold over 685,000 copies.
