Brad Paisley Claims Sony Music Stole $10 Million

Country singer Brad Paisley is suing his record label Sony Music for allegedly stealing $10 million from him.

Paisley filed the lawsuit on March 31, and according to court documents Paisley believes Sony has “failed to live up to their agreements and other legal obligations” and is trying to rob him blind again.  He claims has breached their contract and Sony Music has stole more than $10 million dollars from him.

“The primary reason that Paisley is commencing this action is because Sony continuously has refused Paisley access to a variety of information and applied incorrect royalty rates, prices, and reductions, pursuant to the Recording Agreement, resulting in Sony’s significantly underpaying Paisley,” court documents stated.

Paisley previously filed a lawsuit against the record label company in 2002 despite his 2011 lawsuit for copyright infringement. In 2002 Paisley sued Sony for not getting access to his royalty information, but since he signed a contract he was only allowed to challenge royalty payments since 2006.  In 2011, Paisley and Carrie Underwood were sued for copyright infringement for their 2011 hit “Remind Me.”

Paisley and his advisers will continue to resolve matters amicably with Sony in this breach of contract lawsuit.
