2016 MTV Video Music Award Nominations are In!

Beyonce MTV 2014 TIME Magazine

MTV has released the nominees for the 2016 Video Music Awards.

This year proves that women are taking over as Beyonce and Adele lead with the most nominations. The highly acclaimed Lemonade has been building as an awards contender for Queen Bey, as she leads the VMA’s with 11 nominations. “Formation” received six nominations alone.

The same can be said about Adele’s album 25 which has helped her win eight nominations. Seven of those nominations are for her music video “Hello”.

Both artists will be competing for Video of the Year against Drake’s “Hotline Bling”, Justin Bieber’s “Sorry”, and Kanye West’s controversial video “Famous”.

The 2016 MTV Video Music Awards will air on Aug. 28 at 8PM CST from New York’s Madison Square Garden.
