Sony Pictures has released the first trailer for their upcoming holiday comedy The Night Before.
The Jonathan Levine-directed film, starring Seth Rogen, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Anthony Mackie, centers on three lifelong best friends deciding to party one last time on Christmas Eve to mark the end of their 14-year-old holiday tradition as they all enter far more adult phases of life- with Rogen’s character about to become a father and Mackie’s pro-athlete character is a famous celebrity.
“Gentleman, 14 years ago I lost my parents and you guys have been with me every single Christmas since then,” Gordon-Levitt’s character says in the opening up the trailer. “But tonight, we have decided to end this tradition.”
Below is the film’s official synopsis, courtesy of Sony Pictures Entertainment:
Ethan (Gordon-Levitt), Isaac (Rogen) and Chris (Mackie) have been friends since childhood, and for a decade, their yearly Christmas Eve reunion has been an annual night of debauchery and hilarity. Now that they’re entering adulthood, the tradition is coming to an end, and to make it as memorable as possible, they set out to find the Nutcracka Ball – the Holy Grail of Christmas parties.
Alongside the trio, the film stars Lizzy Caplan, Jillian Bell, Michael Shannon, and Mindy Kaling. Sony pokes fun at its controversial release of The Interview, stating in the trailer, “From the guys who brought you Neighbors, This Is The End, and ALMOST The Interview…”
The Night Before hits theaters November 25th. Check out the trailer below, which features Rogen tripping out in a church after taking mushrooms and a surprise cameo from Miley Cyrus.
