“Do you believe in the stories about the Blair Witch?”
The trailer for Blair Witch, the surprise sequel to The Blair Witch Project, has released a new haunting trailer.
Adam Wingard’s film, penned by Simon Barrett, was previously known as The Woods. During an early screening at San Diego Comic Con, the real title and association to the original film was revealed.
“We were just such fans of the original film and its mythology,” Barrett told Entertainment Weekly. “It was like, ‘We can’t let anyone else do this.’ We were refusing to let another filmmaker mess with it, because it was something that we really loved.”
Wingard added, “The funny thing is, I’ve always been considered a horror filmmaker and I don’t feel like I’ve made a real horror movie…One of the interesting things for me was, actually saying, ‘I’m going to try to make the scariest film that’s ever been made.’”
The film’s synopsis, via IMDB:
After discovering a video showing what he believes to be his sister’s experiences in the demonic woods of the Blair Witch, James and a group of friends head to the forest in search of his lost sibling.
Blair Witch hits theaters September 16th. Check out the new trailer below:
