‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ Script Delayed

Ever since Disney’s purchase of Lucasfilm in 2012, Star Wars fans have been waiting with eager anticipation for the release of the seventh film in the franchise. But, there’s a problem – Disney has yet to receive a completed version of the screen play.

Toy Story 3 writer Michael Arnd, had been originally hired to write the screen play, but in October it was revealed that director JJ Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan, the writer of Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi, had taken over script-writing duties.  Now it seems that Abrams and Kasdan will not have a completed script until January 2014.

Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy previously spoke about the script saying, “I am very excited about the story we have in place and thrilled to have Larry and JJ working on the script. There are very few people who fundamentally understand the way a Star Wars story works like Larry, and it is nothing short of incredible to have him even more deeply involved in its return to the big screen. JJ of course is an incredible storyteller in his own right.

“Michael Arndt has done a terrific job bringing us to this point and we have an amazing filmmaking and design team in place already prepping for production.”

Filming for Star Wars: Episode VII is expected to this Spring at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, UK.  It is unknown whether the script delay will effect the film’s current release date of December 18,2015.
