Sia is under fire after releasing the music video for her latest single “Elastic Heart.”
The song features 28-year-old Shia LaBeouf and 12-year-old Dance Moms star Maddie Ziegler, who was also featured in Sia’s “Chandelier” music video. The two are seen inside a cage as they express a mix of emotions through dance, but many fans feel the video portrays an inappropriate and intimate relationship between each other.
One fan criticized the “Elastic Heart” video by tweeting: “Smacks of child molestation #pervert #unacceptable #childabuse…Explain please!”. However, other fans come to Sia’s defense by saying the video is simply a form of art.
Sia responds to the controversial remarks by tweeting: “I anticipated some ‘pedophelia!!!’ Cries for this video. All I can say is Maddie and Shia are two of the only actors I felt could play,” Sia said Wednesday night. “I apologize to those who feel triggered by #ElasticHeart, My intention was to create some emotional content, not to upset anybody,” the singer added in another tweet.
