Seth Rogen & James Franco Cancel All Press Appearances Due To Threats Against ‘The Interview’

James Franco and Seth Rogen have cancelled all media appearances for their upcoming comedy film The Interview, including The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Late Night with Seth Meyers.

A group who claims to be responsible for the recent cyber attack on Sony Pictures Entertainment called “Guardians of Peace” made threats of physical violence at movie theaters where The Interview would be shown Tuesday. The film is about characters played by Rogen and Franco who take part in a plot to assassinate North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

The hackers’ message reads:

Warning
We will clearly show it to you at the very time and places “The Interview” be shown, including the premiere, how bitter fate those who seek fun in terror should be doomed to.
Soon all the world will see what an awful movie Sony Pictures Entertainment has made.
The world will be full of fear.
Remember the 11th of September 2001.
We recommend you to keep yourself distant from the places at that time.
(If your house is nearby, you’d better leave.)
Whatever comes in the coming days is called by the greed of Sony Pictures Entertainment.
All the world will denounce the SONY.

The film’s New York premiere is still set to take place Thursday at the Sunshine Cinema. Its L.A. premiere took place last week, but Sony did not permit any press interviews with the stars.

The Interview is still scheduled to hit theaters Christmas day.
