Johnny Depp and Mia Wasikowska are now officially set for their return to the big screen as The Mad Hatter and Alice, respectively, in Disney’s Alice In Wonderland 2.
Disney announced the news on Friday that the duo would return for the sequel to Lewis Carroll’s classic fairytale. The film is expected to be based off of the writer’s 1871 novel Through The Looking Glass. It is unknown whether Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter and Matt Luca will reprise their roles in the sequel as well.
One thing is for sure, the film will have a new look. Director Tim Burton will not be returning to direct the film, instead The Muppets director James Bobin will be taking the helm.
While reviews for the film were mixed, 2010’s Alice In Wonderland grossed over $1.20 billion worldwide to become the fourteenth highest grossing film of all-time.
Alice In Wonderland 2 is expected to hit theaters May 27, 2016.
