Channing Tatum has announced that Magic Mike 2 in the works.
Since Magic Mike released back in June, the film has made over $75 million at the box office on a budget of only $7 million budget. Along with the success of the film, a Broadway version of the movie is in the works to be released next summer.
So, it comes as no surprise that the hit movie would possibly have a sequel. When Tatum was asked about a possible Magic Mike 2 during a Twitter interview with Glamour magazine he replied ” Yes, yes and Yes! We’re working on the concept now. We want to flip the script and make it bigger.”
The first film was based off of Tatum’s experiences as a male adult entertainer in Tampa, FL during his late teens. The story line of the second film has yet to be revealed. Also, there is no word on whether director Steven Soderbergh will sign on for the follow-up or if co-stars Alex Pettyfer, Matthew McConaughey, Joe Manganiello will return for the second film.
Meanwhile, Tatum is staying busy with his upcoming movie G.I. Joe: Retaliation due in theaters next year. Just last week Tatum confirmed that he and co-star Jonah Hill are in pre-production for the sequel of their hit movie 21 Jump Street. There is also word that the Magic Mike star may consider to star as the role of Evil Knievel in the daredevil’s upcoming biopic.
