Disney has officially announced plans to produce a sequel to their hit animated feature film Frozen. The announcement was made during Walt Disney Co.’s annual shareholders meeting Thursday in San Francisco.
Frozen has been a commercial success since its release in 2013 generating over $1 billion in the world wide box office and spawning a Broadway production, the short Frozen Fever, and even winning Academy Awards for Best Original Song and Best Animated Feature Film.
The sequel is being developed by Frozen directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, along with producer Peter Del Vech.
No release date for Frozen 2 has been set but the short, Frozen Fever, will premiere before Disney’s Cinderella bowing this weekend.
