Actor and producer Brad Pitt is reportedly eyeing his Fight Club director David Fincher to revive the zombie apocalypse thriller World War Z, according to Variety who first reported the news.
After losing the original director J.A. Bayona, who left the project to direct Jurassic World 2, sources say that Pitt, Paramount and Skydance have met with Fincher to discuss opportunities for him to direct the sequel.
World War Z is based on the best-selling novel by Max Brooks. The film adaptation in 2013 earned over $540 million worldwide at the box office.
Fincher – who last directed 2014’s Gone Girl – has also worked with Pitt on Se7en and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
Filming for the World War Z follow-up is expected to begin in 2017.
