Bill Murray is set to appear in Sony’s female-centric Ghostbusters reboot, though details in regards to his role have not yet been revealed.
Murray is known for playing Dr. Peter Venkman in the original 1984 Ghostbusters, alongside Dan Aykroyd (as Dr. Raymond Stantz) and Harold Ramis (as Dr. Egon Spengler), and in the 1989 sequel, Ghostbusters II. Aykroyd filmed a cameo alongside Kristin Wiig in July for the upcoming reboot, though like Murray, his role in the film is unclear.
Back in 2011, the actor told David Letterman that he was hesitant to the idea of a new Ghostbusters. He called Ghostbusters 3 his “nightmare,” saying: “I told them if they killed me off in the first reel I’d do it, so now they’ve figured out a way to kill me, but it’s crazy talk.”
The Paul Feig-directed reboot will star Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, Chris Hemsworth, Michael K. Williams and Neil Casey. It is scheduled to debut July 15th, 2016.
