Amber Heard is reportedly in talks to star in Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment’s upcoming superhero film Aquaman, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Jason Momoa, who is known for his role as Khal Drogo on Game of Thrones, is already set to play the title role. Heard would play his love interest Mera, who eventually becomes the queen of Atlantis in the comics. Mera’s abilities include “super strength, durability, control over water, exceptional swimming ability [and the] ability to breathe underwater,” according to the DC Comics website.
The character would make her first appearance in the upcoming film, Justice League Part One, alongside Momoa, Ben Affleck (Batman), Henry Cavill (Superman), Ezra Miller (The Flash) and Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman). Justice League Part One is slated to be released November 17, 2017, with Part Two arriving in June 2019.
James Wan is expected to direct Aquaman, and the screenplay is still being written. Aquaman is currently scheduled to hit theaters July 27, 2018.
