BackstageOL’s Dave Morales recently sat down with Adam Sandler to discuss Pixels, a science fiction comedy film about video game characters, such as Pac-Man and Donkey Kong, invading the Earth.
The soundtrack plays an important role in the film, which features many classic songs from various rock artists, including Cheap Trick’s “Surrender” and Loverboy’s “Working for the Weekend.” At the mention of the band Loverboy, Sandler revealed that the group attended one of his parties.
“I do this holiday party every year and everyone comes and jams at it,” he said. “Loverboy came and jammed at our party this year.”
Sandler also talked further about how the soundtrack for the film came together. “Some tracks just happened. Chris [Columbus] put stuff in there, and it made total sense, and it was exciting. Some stuff we wrote into the script. Everyone comes up with a tune they like from growing up.”
Pixels, which stars Sandler alongside Kevin James, Michelle Monaghan, Peter Dinklage, and Josh Gad, hits theaters July 24, 2015.
