Kingdom Hearts 4 Announced

Kingdom Hearts 4 was officially announced by Square Enix during a 20th-anniversary event. That’s right Sora, Donald and Goofy are back to battle the heartless once again.

Square also announced two other games during the event, Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link and Kingdom Hearts Dark Road (a mobile game).

Sora’s New Look

The new entry in the mainline series will be getting a graphical upgrade by the way of Unreal Engine 5. While the three previous entries in the main series had a more cartoonish Disney aesthetic, Kingdom Hearts 4 seems to be going for a more “real-world” look.

At least in terms of Sora and the world (Quadratum) visible in the trailer. Sadly, it seems that Sora’s iconic oversized shoes are gone in this realistic world.

However, fans of the Disney aesthetic may be in luck though as everyone’s favorite wizard and knight show up at the end of the trailer.

They’re Back

Donald and Goofy, who are searching for a friend at the end of the trailer are also rendered in Unreal Engine but still have their classic Disney look.

And it wouldn’t be a Kingdom Hearts game without the appearance of Organization XIII. Two members of the organization are revealed to be watching Sora battle a giant Heartless in the trailer.

The full trailer for Kingdom Hearts 4 and the entire anniversary event can be viewed below. Square Enix did not give any word on an official release date or platform for Kingdom Hearts 4.
