New York police have arrested four individuals that are suspected to have sold heroin to the late Philip Seymour Hoffman.
Police raided an apartment in New York’s Chinatown neighborhood Tuesday night after receiving a tip that Hoffman had purchased heroin there a couple months ago. Inside the apartment cops reportedly found 350 glassine envelopes filled with a substance that is believe to be heroin. The bags did not have the “Ace of Spades” logo on it, which where found on the bags of heroin in Hoffman’s apartment at the time of his death.
Police arrested and charged Robert Vineberg (57) Thomas Kushman (48) with felony drug possession. Two other individuals, Max Rosenblum (22) and Juliana Luchkiw (22), were booked for misdemeanor drug possession.
Vineberg is a musician and goes by the name Robert Aaron. He has played with some of music’s biggest acts including Wyclef Jean and Tom Jones. When asked if he had sold heroin to Hoffman he replied, “No, I did not.”
The arrests come two days after Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead inside his New York apartment from an apparent heroin overdose. The Oscar winner reportedly had a hypodermic needle stuck in his arm and two clear envelopes filled with what appeared to be heroin lying next to his body when found. Eight other empty envelopes were found in his apartment.
Philip Seymour Hoffman’s funeral is set for Sunday in New York City.
