Watch: Does Sia Remove Her Wig On ‘Ellen DeGeneres’?

“Chandelier” and “Elastic Heart” singer Sia stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Tuesday to perform her newest hit “Alive” with Maddie Ziegler, as well as to discuss her famous wigs.

Host Ellen DeGeneres asked the 39-year-old Australian entertainer, who is known for wearing large fake hair in order to conceal her face, to explain why she prefers to perform with the wig on.

“We’re pals, so I have seen what your face looks like, I know what you look like. But whenever you perform, you do not like to show your face, and I don’t think people understand why,” said Ellen.

“Well, it’s so that I can go to Target and buy a hose if I want to. Or if I’m in need of a restroom and I can’t find one, I could go by the side of the road,” Sia explains. “And nobody would be following me with a camera trying to get ‘the shot.'”

Ellen then encourages Sia to take off her wig for the cameras and studio audience – but does she actually do it?

After several attempts to remove the wig, holiday music commences… cue Ellen’s 12 Days of Giveaways! It all turned out to be a ploy to begin Day 5 of her Christmas giveaways. Although Sia chooses to keep her face covered up nowadays, she wasn’t always hidden. Check out how the singer looks like without her wig below:

Back in 2014, Sia expressed her need for privacy in an interview with The New York Times.

“Once, as my friend was telling me they had cancer, someone came up and asked, in the middle of the conversation, if they could take a photograph with me,” said Sia. “You get me?”
