Video: Ron Burgundy Joins Local Newscast

Ron Burgundy, played by Will Ferrell, joined North Dakota’s CBS affiliate KX News Saturday night as he co-anchored the evening news while completely in character.

The usual newscast was delighted to have the delusional character from Anchorman help with their evening broadcast, but a few newsreaders had some trouble keeping a straight face, making their job of reading the news a difficult one.

Amber Schatz, Burgundy’s co-anchor for the night, said “The Second he said ‘Good evening, I’m Ron Burgundy,’ I lost it…It was really hard not to laugh.”

With Ferrell being the comedian that he is, he couldn’t help but bring some of his improv based humor to the table. “I’ve never seen fighting in a hockey match before,” said Ron Burgundy after witnessing a brawl breakout in an NHL match during the sportscast.  “That was fascinating.”

The character’s appearance on KX News is the latest stunt in the marketing campaign for the upcoming Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, which hits theaters December 18th.
