While the previous teasers released by FX for American Horror Story: Freak Show have all been equally creepy, it wasn’t until these three nightmarish teasers surfaced online that prompted endless goosebumps. One word: clowns.
The teasers, titled “Open Wide,” “Sword Swallower and “Twisted Smile,” are short but, nevertheless, terrifying.
During an interview back in May with Entertainment Weekly, co-creator Ryan Murphy explained how this season is “turning out to be quite terrifyingly dark” and “feels much more like the Asylum season.” He wasn’t kidding.
“If you have a character named the Clown Killer,” continued Murphy, “it’s going to be dark.”
Freak Show stars Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Denis O’Hare, Angela Bassett, Emma Roberts, Frances Conroy, Gabourey Sidibe, Evan Peters, and Jaimie Brewer, with new cast members Michael Chiklis, Wes Bentley, Finn Wittrock and Patti LaBelle.
The fourth season of the Emmy-winning series centers on a traveling carnival in Jupiter, Florida during the 1950s.
American Horror Story: Freak Show is set to premiere Wednesday, October 8th on FX.
