Critically acclaimed US gangster drama The Sopranos has once again beat out its rivals after it was voted the best written TV series in American history by the Writers Guild of America. Long-running sitcom Seinfeld was second on the countdown, followed by the original 1959 series of The Twilight Zone.
The guild, consisted of writers in motion pictures, broadcast, cable and new media industries, released the list of the 101 best written television shows based on a poll of its members on Sunday. With The Sopranos coming out on top, the guild’s Paul Brown Field said, “No show has been more responsible for TV’s storytelling renaissance.”
The eight year running HBO hit was a modern day morality tale about New Jersey mod boss Tony Soprano, as he dealt with personal and professional issues in his home and business life.
