‘The Simpsons’ Plan to Retire Edna Krabappel After Wallace’s Death

Due to the passing of Marcia Wallace, the character of the beloved Mrs. Krabapple is being retired from The Simpsons. Wallace ,who brought Mrs. Krabapple to life for more than 20 years, passed away on October 26th due to pneumonia complications.

Following Wallace’s, death executive producer Al Jean released the following statement:

“I was tremendously saddened to learn this morning of the passing of the brilliant and gracious Marcia Wallace. She was beloved by all at The Simpsons and we intend to retire her irreplaceable character.”

While the show had intentions of killing off a character, Edna Krabapple was not the one.

“Earlier we had discussed a potential storyline in which a character passed away. This was not Marcia’s Edna Krabappel,” Jean added. “Marcia’s passing is unrelated and again, a terrible loss for all who had the pleasure of knowing her.”

Wallace was 70 when she passed.
