‘The Following’ Gets Huge Ratings Boost

Last night’s season premiere of “The Following” showed a huge boost in ratings over last year thanks to the exhilarating NFC Championship game on FOX last night.

After the Seattle Seahawks clinched their ticket to the Super Bowl, viewers stayed on the network to check out the new season of the Kevin Bacon-fronted drama series. Ratings shot up 38% last year’s premiere from a 3.2 to a 4.4 in the 18-49 demo. The drama series also saw a 63% increase from last season’s finale.

Thanks to the NFC Championship game and “The Following,” FOX saw its highest-rated night in the demo for two years.  Official numbers for the game are expected to be released Monday evening.

“The Following” returns to its regular night on Monday, January 27 without the added advantage of football.
