The Billionaire That’s Funding Anti-Trump Ads

One billionaire has been spending his money to discourage the public from voting for Donald Trump: Tom Steyer.

Steyer is an environmentalist who has donated $24 million to his Super PAC, NextGen Climate Action Committee. According to its website, the committee “acts politically to prevent climate disaster and promote prosperity for every American.”

The NextGen Climate Action Committee funded an anti-Trump ad, which features Steyer himself, but doesn’t focus on climate issues. Clips of Trump are shown calling Mexicans “rapists” and announcing that he is going to build a war as well as have a “deportation force.”

“That’s not America. We’re all Californians. It’s time to speak out. Please register,” Steyer says to conclude the ad.

A Spanish version of the ad has also been made. The English version of the ad can be seen below:

Currently, the committee is only airing the ads in California, which will be holding a presidential primary on Tuesday. So far, the committee has spent $1.6 million to make ads to discourage voters from supporting Trump and Sen. Ted Cruz.

For this year’s election, NextGen Climate Action Committee is also rolling out a $25 million campaign to encourage young adults to register and vote.

Steyer, who is said to be considering running for governor of California in 2018, contributed over $73 million in the 2014 elections to support democratic candidates who were worried about global warming, but many of them ended up losing.
