‘The Bible’ Sets Cable TV Records

Sunday night’s premiere of Mark Burnett’s new religious epic The Bible set cable TV records in America when it debuted on the History Channel.

The first episode of the 10-hour History Channel mini-series scored 13.1 million viewers, making the show cable’s most-watched entertainment telecast of the year.

The Bible‘s 10-hour docudrama explores the sacred text’s most significant episodes, including Noah’s journey in the ark, the Exodus and the life of Jesus.

“We could not be more thrilled with this out-of-the-gate success.  The world is watching right now and we are incredibly humbled by the reaction to the series.  More people are discussing God’s chosen people – Moses and Abraham – in one day than ever before,” Burnett said.

Burnett also predicts that The Bible will eventually be seen by more than a billion people around the world.

Catch The Bible on Sundays 8/7c on The History Channel.
