Teen Mom star Amber Portwood has been released from Indiana’s Rockville Correctional Facility after serving only 17 months of a 5-year sentence. Portwood had been convicted of drug possession and parole violation in December 2011.
The reality star was released early thanks to Indiana’s “good time credit” program that allows inmates to shorten their incarceration by participating in programs and exhibiting good behavior.
“She’s really grown and matured — she completed her drug rehab [in prison]. she got her G.E.D., she completed parenting classes, and she became the administrator of the CLIFF program, which helps inmates get sober,” Amber’s brother, Shawn Portwood, told OK! Magazine.
He added, “She did so well in cleaning herself up, that she spent most of her jail time helping other girls get clean.”
So what was the first thing Portwood decided to do once released from prison? “Go get something good to eat,” Amber told SplashNewsOnline.com.
