Steven Spielberg’s ‘Minority Report’ Gets TV Reboot

Fox has ordered a new television series that will be a sequel to Steven Spielberg’s 2002 film Minority Report.

The film focused on a precrime department where humans who can see the future, called Precogs, arrest criminals before they commit a crime.The series would take place ten years after the events of the film, which ended with the Precrime unit being shut down and three Precogs going on to try to live normal lives. The drama series would center on one Precog, who ends up being haunted by visions of the future and meets a detective who is haunted by her past.

Max Borenstein will write the script, and Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank of Amblin Television will executive-produce. The show has a put-pilot commitment, meaning Fox will have to pay a huge penalty if the network decides not to air it.

The original film, which was based on a short story by Philip K. Dick, starred Tom Cruise, Colin Farrell, and Samantha Morton.
