Stephen King’s ‘The Mist’ Being Adapted as a TV Series

Stephen King’s The Mist is heading to the small screen.

The Weinstein Company’s Dimension Television announced it will be developing a television series based upon the 1980 horror novella. The story was previously made into a film back in 2007, which was directed by Frank Darabont.

Christian Torpe, the creator of Danish TV series Rita, is writing for the series, which will be influenced by King’s story, but will feature new characters. It will focus on a small town that is covered by a mist that brings many terrors and other strange creatures. The mist causes the community to fight against it and and to battle each other.

“The terror and drama in Stephen King’s novella are so vast that we felt serialized television is the best place to explore them in greater depth,” Bob Weinstein, co-chairman The Weinstein Company and Dimension Films, stated in the announcement. “With this show, Christian has created a fascinating band of characters and a story with infinite scares.”
