Sony Plans Animated ‘Ghostbusters’ TV Show

The new Ghostbusters remake starring Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones will hit theaters next month, but another Ghostbusters reboot is already on the way!

Sony Pictures Animation is currently developing an animated TV series version of Ghostbusters called Ghostbuster: Ecto Force that is set in the year 2050. It will feature a new group of characters who track down ghosts all around the world with the help of local teams. Ivan Reitman, who directed the original 1984 film, and his company Ghost Corps. will helm the project. It’s currently unknown who will voice the new characters.

This isn’t the first time Ghostbusters has been made into a television series. The Real Ghostbusters ran from for seven seasons from 1986-1991 and followed the adventures of the characters from the original film.

The new show is slated to premiere in 2018.
