‘SNL’ Recreates ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Trailer

NBC’s Saturday Night Live, infamous for its countless spoofs and satires, created their own version of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer, but with an inevitable twist – this time everything takes place 30-plus years after Return of the Jedi.

The show spoofed the newly released trailer, imagining how some of the franchise’s iconic characters – Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo – would manage in a sci-fi world as geriatric versions of themselves.

First up in the clip is Han, played by Taran Killam, who is hard of hearing and yells at other pilots to “go around,” while Bobby Moynihan plays an elderly Princess Leia who struggles to program R2-D2.

Joining the SNL cast as guest host is The Interview actor James Franco, who portrays an aged Luke putting his lightsabers to good use. “I have a thyroid issue,” he solemnly says, “just like my father before me.”

In the following scenes, Chewbecca has a cone of shame around his neck, Lando (Kenan Thompson) suffers from marital problems, and everyone is perplexed by the ball droid rolling around.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters December 18, 2015. Check out the parody trailer below, via NBC.
