Seth Meyers Names Fred Armisen ‘Late Night’ Bandleader

Seth Meyers, who will be taking over as the new host of NBC’s Late Night, has announced Fred Armisen as bandleader of the in-house 8G band for the upcoming show. Meyers broke the news tweeting, “Fred will curate and lead the band, and continue to run it even when he’s off shooting Portlandia,” along with a picture of the five-member group.

The new Late Night band will include guitarist Seth Jabour (Les Savy Fav), bassist Syd Butler (Les Savy Fav), keyboardist Eli Janney (Girls Against Boys), drummer Kim Thompson (Beyoncé’s touring band) and Armisen, who will sing and play guitar.

Meyers will make his debut as Late Night host on Monday, February 24.
