The Office now has an official good-bye date.
NBC has set the series finale date for The Office to be on Thursday, May 16. The hour-long series finale will also be the show’s 200th episode.
The final episode will not be all about goodbyes, instead the characters on the show are saying all of their goodbyes right now. The Office cast are keeping their lips sealed on exactly what the series finale will be.
Steve Carell recently confirmed that he will not be reprising his role of Michael Scott for the show’s finale. Carell said that it “wouldn’t feel right” if his character made a return to Scranton.
Executive producer Greg Daniels recently stated that turning the cameras on the documentary crew marked “the beginning of the end” for the show. Daniels said he is urging viewers to not wait until the finale in order to find out how the show will end.
“I don’t think we’re planning on packing everything into the last episode,” he said. “I would encourage people — if you’re waiting for the end of ‘The Office’ to re-tune in, I would start doing it right away.”
