Selena Gomez Developing TV Series About Her Life
Singer and actress Selena Gomez will be executive producing a scripted TV series based on her life for Lifetime. Kevin Spacey and Dana Brunetti will also serve as executive producers.
The currently untitled TV series is a part of Lifetime’s “Fempire,” programming that was made for and by women. It will depict Gomez’s rise to fame from the perspective of her circle of friends. A premiere date is not yet set, and it is not yet known who will star in the show.
The new series won’t be the first time Gomez has served as an executive producer. She was also the executive producer for Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place movie in 2013 and Netflix’s upcoming 13 Reasons Why. She’s is also currently set to executive produce a new series for Freeform.
Other celebrities have also teamed up with Lifetime for new movies, including Janet Jackson, Serena Williams, and Ronda Rousey. Jackson will executive produce a film set in the 1920s about Queenie, a New York City gangster. Williams will produce a scripted dance film called Sister Dance, and Rousey has signed on for a three-picture movie deal.
