This week rumors spread across the web saying that Ryan Murphy was developing a Glee spinoff series centered around Lea Michele’s character, Rachel Berry. A source allegedly said, “They’re making the deals now and it also presents a viable exit plan for the main ‘Glee’ series itself — in that some of its core cast would also migrate to the Lea Michele project as ‘Glee’ is showing signs of aging.”
However, Glee creator and co-writer Ryan Murphy denies this report. A rep for Fox also stated that the rumor is not true.
The musical comedy-drama series is currently in its fifth season and has been renewed for a sixth. Murphy previously announced the show’s sixth-season will be its last. Plans for the show’s final season had to be altered after the passing of star Cory Monteith this past summer.
Glee returns to Fox after a brief hiatus this Thursday at 8pm CST.
