FOX Television Studios CEO and chairmen Dana Walden and Gary Newman have officially confirmed that Prison Break will be back!
Walden and Newman spoke to reporters at Television Critics Association semi annual press tour saying, “I would describe it as a bit of a sequel, it picks up the characters several years after we left them in the last season of the show.”
This means both Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller will be returning to the show, despite the death of Millers character, Michael Scofield, in the straight to video follow up The Final Break. Purcell and Miller are currently teamed up in the CW shows The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow.
When asked how writer Paul Scheuring will handle the characters death, Walden said, “I don’t think he’s going to completely ignore what happened in that episode, but what he pitched to us was a very logical and believable explanation in the world of Prison Break for why are character’s alive and still moving around the world.”
While the show is currently in development, the show is set to be a 10 part “Event Series” that will bring back key characters in the Prison Break universe. It hasn’t been said why the characters will be teaming up once more, but Newman insured that they have an incredible story and reason why the characters will be relevant once again.
